Global Summit on Climate Change

The world’s nations are gathering in Belem, Brazil to lock down new commitments to limit dangerous climate change. They’ll try to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius and, ideally, close to 1.5 degrees Celsius. But experts warn the planet has already crossed the first tipping point, bringing with it ocean warming, dying coral reefs and rising sea levels, extreme heat, droughts, wildfires, food and water shortages and flooding. Adding to the challenge, US President Donald Trump has championed fossil fuels and called climate science a “con job”.
